Russian Communist Party leader and funny guy, Gennadi Zuganov, has had his joke book banned by the FSB according to the "Other Russia" and the KPRF website. According these Russian sources the book was considered "unlawful campaign activity". Here's the verbatim account from the "Other Russia":
"The FSB has deemed Gennady Zyuganov’s (of the Communist Party) book of jokes an “unlawful campaigning activity.”
Gennady Zyuganov, leader of the Communist Party of Russia (CPRF), has sent a letter to Nikolai Patrushev, director of the FSB, the party’s website reports. It serves as a reply to recent investigatory activities of Zyuganov by the Novosibirsk oblast branch of the Federal Security Service. The investigators were looking into the constitutionality of CPRF campaign materials, including a book titled “Jokes from Zyuganov.”
“I am sending you a copy of this book with the hope, that the sense of humor in your organization remains at a high level, and that you, and your colleagues, will read ‘Jokes from Zyuganov’ with a smile,” the letter reads.
“In the event that you take a decision to hold a reading conference in the structures of the FSB, I will gladly participate. By the way, this book was already presented by me to President Vladimir Putin, and it found in him a good and cheerful understanding,” the letter continues.
The FSB has deemed jokes about Vladimir Putin and the United Russia party to be “unlawful campaigning activity.” The successor of the KGB is also publicly disaffected with the circulation of the CPRF’s newspaper, “For the People’s Power!” It has claimed that the paper’s materials compromise several political parties, including two pro-Kremlin organs, United Russia and Just Russia."
An example of Zuganov's humor includes the following: A guy goes into the forest and becomes lost. He runs and cries save me!, help me! someone! Suddenly there is a tap on the shoulder, he turns and there stands a huge bear who asks why he is yelling and shaking up the whole forest. The fellow says he was just yelling because he was lost and the bear says well here I am, don't you feel better now?
Pretty controversial stuff.
